The last few years in March, taking into account that on 8th March is the international women day, I have been writing post as secretaries by vocation, not for being women and how we say and write the 3rd person. This time I want to share another thought.
More and more woman are beginning to leave their hair its natural colour. It can be grey or white hair. During the lockdown many women decided try out leaving their natural colour hair. Post lockdown some have decided to maintain their new looks and others have gone back to colouring their hair. Part of those women who decided carry on re-dyed was because:
- Prefer having re-dying hair.
- In case they have white or grey hair, they see themselves much older, adding being woman, they have to deal with double employment disadvantage.
- Because they have to give certain appearance if they have direct contact with general public.
Besides the hair colour categorises too, especially to women in Spain. It changes the same situation for a man or woman. Although, there are many positive qualifiers, I want to focus on the ones which are harmful to women. For the record, the following isn’t my opinion, but I have heard many times:

| Dark | Strong, self-confident | Bad-tempered, severe |
Summing up, men can be interesting, experienced, attractive, handsome, strong and self-confident meanwhile women with same appearance are old, unkempt, unintelligent, bimbo, bad-tempered and severe. It’s unacceptable that women have grey-white roots in their hair. So some who grow their hair quite quickly, they need to get frequently to have their hair dyed. Other with dark brown or black colour hair, when they are getting on a bit, are recommended to get their hair lightened to become soften appearance. Quite the reverse with blond ones who are recommended to get dark to give a serious appearance. As though there weren’t dynamic and dress up greys-whites, serious and smart blonds and polite and nice browns.
Why can’t women give the same image as men? Why can’t women with the same appearance than men be for instance experienced, strong and self-confident? We have been told us that we must give a particular appearance for many years. So, don’t you think it’s time each woman wears the hair colour that she likes?
