How do you write so fast without looking at the keyboard?

Have you ever been asked how you write so fast without looking at the keyboard? Everything has its own technique and this was invented by Frank Edward McGurrin.

Frank Edward McGurrin was a stenographer at a law firm in Michigan. In 1878 his office bought a second-hand Remington 1 typewriter. He and his boss started to practise and compete between them to see who wrote faster. At the beginning, McGurrin used 2-3 fingers and was creating a touch typing technique, using the 10 fingers without looking at the keyboard, the Touch Typing. Other people were also developing other techniques for typing fast with the typewriter. McGurrin was already writing 90 words a minute with the Remington 1 without looking at the keyboard at the end of 1878. He won a typing contest in 1888 and his typing system became popular. He published his method, the Touch Typing, and he began to teach his fingerprint method, which he said it was simple and anyone could learn.

This method consist of basing fingers on the guide keys and moving fingers from this guides, taking as a starting point for all movements. Nowadays we continue using it and we have adapted it to the computer keyboard.

Besides writing fast, other advantage of this discipline is the position of the back. In this way, you write directly while you are reading, so you correct the position of the back.
